During the last eight years, Lyle Blum has led the Spartan wrestling program during some of its finest seasons including its first ever trip to the State Team Wrestling Tournament and the most dual victories (17) in a single season. His 85-47 overall record carries the most victories by a single coach in Spartan wrestling history and his .644 winning percentage is second only to Mike Montgomery’s .786 winning percentage. Lyle has decided it’s time for him to step down and focus his energy elsewhere. Stepping up to fill the void left by Blum is a familiar face.
Bill Tourdot has been named the next coach to lead the Spartans. The Tourdot last name should pop up a lot next year on Spartanwrestling.com as his son Matt finished one of the most successful freshman campaigns in Spartan history garnering first-time all-conference honors in the process. His younger brother Tommy was a youth state qualifier and will look to make an immediate impact on varsity this year.
Before we leave here, we’d like to send a huge thanks to Lyle for his efforts and commitment over the last eight years and hope he continues to show his face in the wrestling room and during dual meets. Thanks again Lyle!

Bill, you got a great nucleus of wrestlers coming back. November and practice is right around the corner. We wish you the best in the upcoming year. Let us know if we can assist you in any way.
