Spartans Win Lancaster Invite

Sparta edged out Lancaster by the closest of margins Saturday to win the Lancaster Invite.  Sparta's 194 points barely edged out the host Lancaster's 193.  Cuba City and Riverdale tied for third with 144 points apiece.

Matt Tourdot (189) and Jordan Stanek (152) both won their finals in decisive fashion.  Tourdot took down Boscobel's Eric Weigel (13-4) by a score of 6-1.  At 152 pounds, Stanek shut out Riverdale's Jared Hunt (18-6) by a score of 9-0.

Derek McDonald, Brandon Brueggen, Kevin Schmitz and Aaron Freeman all brought home second place medals while Bryce Nowaczyk (5th), Adam Weidel (3rd), Toby Mosley (4th), Jesse Amundson (3rd), Tom Tourdot (4th) and Morgan Leis (3rd) also placed for the Spartans.

The invite crown is the Spartans' first this year and they overcame host Lancaster who they defeated at the Reedsburg Dual Invite earlier this year by a score of 38-28.
