The La Crosse Tribune just released their wrestling honor roll for the first half and the Spartans have a solid presence. Around the same time, Wisconsin Wrestling Online released their rankings and found some new Spartans in the rankings. Let’s see those rankings…
- 120 – Christian Lamon, 7th in the Trib’s honor roll, 6th according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online
- 126 – John Roddick, 2nd in the Trib’s honor roll, 2nd according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online
- 132 – Jaden Winchel, 1st in the Trib’s honor roll, 2nd according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online
- 138 – Brett Vonruden, 4th in the Trib’s honor roll
- 145 – Brock Polhamus, 1st in the Trib’s honor roll, 2nd according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online
- 152 – Hayden Krein, 2nd in the Trib’s honor roll, 5th according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online
- 170 – Logan Van Tassel, 5th in the Trib’s honor roll
An impressive Northern Badger Classic likely catapulted Krein in the Wisconsin Wrestling Online rankings for the first time. His ascension to 5th is the highest of any division two wrestler who was unranked in the previous poll. At the Northern Badger Classic, Krein knocked off Glenwood City’s Jake O’Meara (17-3) in the first period with a pin before beating Chequamegon’s Isaac Weik 12-9 in the semis. Weik entered his match against Krein with a 20-0 record.
On the team side, Sparta slipped a spot to 9th place in division two.
