Proceedings:
- Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Larry Mosely.
- Last month’s minutes approved. (Mosely & Von Ruden)
- Treasurer’s report
- Current cash balance $10,959.90. (Polhamus & Von Ruden)
- Discussions
- Recognized the Youth Program and their extreme success at youth state tournament
- Recognized Jake Larsen’s La Crosse Tribune’s “Coach of the Year”.
- Social Media
- Facebook page is seeing lots of activity—lots of historical pictures as of late.
- Alumni Wrestling Form added to http://spartanwrestling.com/
- Fundraising
- Vinyl Stickers for Mat corners and Banner placement.
- Four separate sponsors for each mat corner. Can be made in a week.
- Cost: $250 per advertising corner.
- Samples were brought to the meeting by Mike Montgomery.
- Grapplers and Grace—Jodi has parent who has volunteered to spearhead the event.
- Snack Shack –Possible work order needs to be submitted for locks.
- US Silica—Will be approached soon.
- Vinyl Stickers for Mat corners and Banner placement.
- Basic Skills camp to be held in Oct/Nov(Particular date not yet established).
- 2-Day, 4 Session Camp with a possible Take down tournament.
- Jake and another outside coach to teach.
- Cost $30.00 per attendee and will receive a T-Shirt.
- Must register the event with USA Wrestling.
- Amy Burkhalter purchased 18 chairs @ $35 each along with a set up charge of $28 for new Spartan logo.
- Warm-ups—almost settled on—one other option to be viewed.
- Open mat sessions have been a huge success averaging 15-20 wrestlers per session
- Scholarships for seniors—Form needs to be filled out from guidance office. Will entertain potential for next year.
- Potential hire of a Freestyle/Greco open mat coach
- This led into serious discussion about establishing a budget. Our funds and membership involvement has created a need to identify our immediate and long-term needs. The board plans to gather soon to identify and budget items that needs attention and slate funds for particular items. E.g.
- Track Wrestling Clocks
- New mats
- Paid coaches for open mat

- Election of Officers upcoming:
- Positions are two-year terms with half of the officer’s terms staggering the other half’s elected term. Upcoming positions:

- Treasurer

- Nominations in May; Elections in June

- We will be asking for Volunteers
- $200.00 was approved by the club for supplies needed to hang existing plaques and future plaques
- Stevens Point Summer Duals June 28th and 29th.
- New Business
- Spaghetti feed—will try to schedule for Nov 12th or 14th.
- Ride sharing—Request was put out to members to make themselves available for rides for wrestlers who may need assistance to and from open mat.
- Sparta Middle school will hold 5 full mats and we are looking into the possibility of renting some Trackwrestling clocks.
- Concession area should be much more accommodating than the current HS set-up.
- Rooms for High School Individual State have been secured again for the same price.
- Butterfest Parade
- Form sent in
- Donation of $200 for candy approved
- Next meeting scheduled for 05/13/13 at Sparta Senior High School.
- Meeting adjourned at 7:58 PM.
