This dual was never in question. Onalaska forfeited five matches and Sparta picked up five pins and major decisions in every other match en route to a 76-0 victory over the Hilltoppers. It was the Spartans’ first shut out since the 2009-10 season when the Sparta also blanked Onalaska 81-0. It’s ironic that on the day an article in the La Crosse Tribune examines Sparta’s great participation levels, they run into a team who just can’t seem to wrestle an entire lineup. SPARTA 76 – ONALASKA 0
Sparta improves to 22-0 all-time against Onalaska in MVC competition. On the year, the Spartans are now 3-0 in the MVC and 9-0 overall. The Spartans will wrestle this weekend at the Stevens Point Dual Tournament before coming back and preparing for a showdown in Holmen on Thursday. A full preview of that dual will be on the blog early next week. Since the dual will be in Holmen, we probably won’t have a full-scale live blog like we normally do, but we will run a live blog that will not be accepting questions and will just be updating scores after every period or after every match. It will have to be done off a mobile device so doing updates on the level that is typically seen is just not feasible. However, we will try to get you the next best thing, which is letting you know the outcomes of matches as soon as they happen. More on that to come.
If you guys come up with a way to do a true live blog, let me know. An issue I came acros when trying to do a live blog from every MVC school this winter other than Aquinas and Sparta.
Craig,
I have contacted Holmen about internet access in their gym. Hopefully they will be able to accomodate and we can do a live blog. Otherwise we will do it through a phone.
If we can do a full-scale live blog, I’ll let you know. As of now, we’re planning on doing some minor updates through a mobile device, but if that changes, we’ll post that news to the website.
