Three Spartans in top three in first Wisconsin Wrestling Online rankings

Three Spartans are ranked in the top three of the first Wisconsin Wrestling Online rankings released on Thursday while the Spartans are ranked eight as a team in division one.

At 126 pounds, junior Jon Bailey is the top-ranked wrestler in the state in division one.  It’s his first time atop the rankings and he is one spot ahead of Arrowhead’s Dominic Dentino.  Bailey defeated Dentino in the division one 120-pound third place match at the state tournament last year.  Jessie Tijerina (9th) and Dylan Herbrand (10th) are two other ranked wrestlers in the section at 126-pounds.

At 152 pounds, Brett Von Ruden finds himself with his highest ranking ever at third.  Spartan alum Joel Dutton’s son, Reese Dutton of Kenosha Tremper, is ranked 8th.  The top-ranked wrestler at 152 pounds is Middleton’s Kevin Meicher.  No other wrestlers in the section are ranked besides Meicher.

At 160 pounds, Hayden Krein debuts at second behind West Allis Hale’s Peyton Mocco.  Holmen’s Reed Williams (HM) and DeForest’s Austin Rauls (HM) are the only other ranked wrestlers in the section.

Spartan team in top 10

For the second year in a row, the Spartans debuted in the top ten of the first Wisconsin Wrestling Online rankings.  Sparta is ranked 8th while conference rival Holmen checks in at third.  The first two dual meets of the year for the Spartans were against teams in the rankings.  Marshfield is currently ranked 10th in division one while Fennimore is ranked 2nd in division three.
