I know this is a little late, but here are the individual results as provided by Pat Stevenson from Saturday’s Stevens Point Dual Tournament where the Spartans went 5-0 on the day to capture their third tournament title of the year…
103 — Bryce Nowaczyk — 3-2
112 — Adam Wiedl — 5-0
119 — Brandon Rickert — 4-1
125 — Nick Winchel — 4-1
130 — Derek VonRuden — 3-2
135 — Michael Murnane — 2-3
140/45 — Logan Denasha — 3-2
140/45 — Jesse Amundson — 2-3
152 — Morgan Leis — 5-0
160 — Tom Tourdot — 1-4
171 — Brandon Brueggen — 2-3
189 — Jordan Stanek — 5-0
215 — Matt Tourdot — 5-0
285 — Steve Stevenson — 4-1
The five dual victories on Saturday put Sparta off to one of its best starts in school history. If they win tomorrow night at home against Onalaska–they have never lost to the Hilltoppers since the MVC was formed–they will match the 15-0 start of the 2003-04 squad that was the best in Spartan history. That team went on to the state team semifinals while still in Division One and finish 15-1.
While tomorrow’s dual may be one of the shortest of the year, it’s a good chance to stop by and say hello to the coach of that 2003-04 team in Lyle Blum. Blum has been coaching the past couple years in Onalaska after moving there to be closer to home and family and is trying very hard to build a program from the ground up.
Also, there will be no live blog of tomorrow’s dual. We do plan on having live blogs for the La Crosse Central dual and hopefully for the dual in Tomah.
Sparta has moved up to #8 in the Wisc Wrestling On-line polls
Larry, thanks for the update. It has to be a great feeling for our wrestlers to be a part of Sparta Spartan Wrestling history !! I know it makes me proud as a parent!
