Sparta 3rd at Regionals, Hutson wins at 215

Sparta tallied 166 points to finish 3rd at Saturday’s regional in Reedsburg.  Tomah will wrestle the winner of the Waunakee regional Tuesday at Sparta.  I suppose you could go there and cheer them on, after all they are Tomah, but then again it makes our area look better if teams from the MVC continually advance to team state.  So, in the end, I would suggest you go and cheer Tomah on Tuesday night in Sparta.

Back to the important matters…  Sparta advanced 12 out of a possible 14 wrestlers to next weekend’s Sectionals in Waunakee.  Trevor Hutson won the regional at 215 while Derek McDonald, Matt Tourdot, Kevin Schmitz and Michael Jacobsen all placed second.  Tourdot lost his second match of the day and wrestled back to second in impressive fashion.
