After the first day of this year’s Bi-State Classic, Sparta sits in 14th place in Division One out of 18 teams. No Spartan wrestler made it through the first day without getting beaten. Arrowhead leads all Division One teams with 181.5 points. Tomah sits in fourth place with 157 points. Sparta has 69.5 points.
While this will be the first year since 2004 that Sparta will not return a Bi-State champion, a number of wrestlers escaped the day with one loss and have great opportunities to place. Below are full results from Day One at this year’s Bi-State Classic…

====================
Sparta’s Michael Jacobsen and Trevor Hutson did not wrestle. Last year, this upper weight duo accounted for almost 70 individual victories and they would have likely improved Sparta’s team score beyond the 69.5 points accumulated today.
The four remaining wrestlers all have great shots at placing tomorrow. Kevin Schmitz pounded out three pins to lead all Spartans in that category.
