The Coulee Region Power Rankings, now in it's 10th year of existence, have been updated. New Lisbon has moved into the number two spot in the rankings ahead of Sparta. Sparta dropped to three while Holmen drops one spot to number four. New Lisbon moved into the No. 2 spot after finishing nearly 25 points ahead of Sparta at the Sparta Invite. The rest of the rankings are unchanged.
Sparta has an opportunity to move up in the rankings when they take on Tomah one week from today. The winner of the Tomah-Sparta dual will likely win the MVC. Sparta will look to end Tomah's dominance over the MVC. The Timberwolves have not lost a conference dual since the 2003-04 season. We here at Spartanwrestling.com believe the time has come for that run to come to an end.

Gentlemen, you’ve wrestled brilliantly as a team all year and your opportunity to take the MVC title awaits you! Three or four of you have some very competitive matches but a good showing by a win or simply not getting pinned can be a win for the team. Others have opportunities to pin some of the Timberwolves to end their domination of the MVC.
Coach Larson has worked hard on improving your overall skills and the rest is now in your hands. Each of you need to evaluate yourself and look deep inside and make this your finest match of the year! The match is for yours to take, now just go get it done!

Mine has to be when we met on a snowed out day at Tomah with no schools in sessions but a full gym that night. it was a classic dual that came down to the wire. Both teams were undefeated and it would determine the MVC Championship. Sparta won!
Right behind has to be the “controversial” victory by Tomah in 2000. It still carries and * in the records.
My greatest Tomah-Sparta memory was easily the 2000 dual when Tomah “won,” but that’s what happens when you have officials who lack knowledge in the rulebook and break multiple rules in the process. What’s really sad was that the dual was not decided on the mat, but by an ill-informed official.
