Well, Christmas is over and the best gift for wrestlers is their two pound allowance for making weight. We wrestled a lot better this past weekend at the Badger State invitational. I am very proud of our 5th place finish and we are still getting better. Every week and every meet we have improved. Our goal is to be the best shape we can be in by regionals. It's okay if we are not on top yet, it is still too early in the season for that.
We will be hosting a scrimmage tomorrow on December 30 at 9:00 in the new gym. It will be al ot of fun and it will give us a chance to have a practice with some new faces. Fans and parents are welcome to come in and watch the Spartans practice.
Go Sparta!
Coach Larsen
Coach, you got the kids poised going into the latter 2/3 of the season. They’re all working hard and wrestling very well.
Tom, Derek, Jordan & Kevin have been consistent through the early part of the season. Kudos to Jordan Stanek for his major improvement over last year. He is working hard and it’s really showing.
Coach continue to push them hard and you’ll get the desired results your looking for. There not afraid of hard work and their a fine bunch of wrestlers. They represent their school and conference in the highest traditions of Sparta Wrestling. Best of luck for the remainder of the season. See you at the Sparta Invitational.

Coach Larsen,
Nice job keeping the team focused. some big matches and Invitational at home ahead of you.
Since Sparta will be competing in D2 next year and probably for quite a while now, have you considered getting back into the Bi-State? There are a good number of D2 teams there that would benefit a look at for future Sectional and State Meet competitions.
The previous AD wishes he would have kept you in it. It is good for fans, parents and an opportunity to showcase your team to the local media.
Mont, I think you must be getting old! We do not have any idea yet if we are going to be division 2 next year. I also must say that if you are picking tournaments based on what is good for fans and parents and a couple of star individuals, then Bi state is nice. If you are in fact trying to build a team and team spirit, BiState can be very harmful. But as you and I both know the coach is the one that should make that call, and I know he has made that decisions with all good intentions.
