Coaches Corner

Hello all Sparta parents and fans:

I would like to congratulate all of our wrestlers on the season so far.  We have some lofty goals for our team this year so we need to continue to work hard during practice and continue to get better throughout the year.  We captured a win against Prairie Du Chien and we took second place at the Reedsburg dual tournament.  It is early in the season and it is hard to gage your team after only a few weeks of practice and only two competitions.  I do know one thing for sure, we have to stay off of our backs.  If we want to be a championship team we need to get the pins and we can not give up any pins.  I am excited to see our guys attacking and "brawling" on their feet.  This week we are going to pick up the pace and intensity during practice. 

We are wrestling La Crosse Central this Thursday the 11th of December at Central and we hope everyone can make the match.  It is going to be a tough match up and we are going to have to wrestle really well to beat them.

One last comment, we had a wrestler get injured this weekend during one of the duals and I would like to say that we are all sorry for what happened to Nick Winchel.  We as coaches never want to see one of our athletes get injured on or off of the mat no matter what time of the year it is.  Our hearts and prayers go out to Nick and we hope for him to get well soon.
