Butterfest Float Info, Summer Open Wrestling

Butterfest is just around the corner and Sparta Wrestling is once again right in the middle of things.  For the second year in a row, the wrestling team will have a float in Sunday’s Butterfest parade.  Float #87 will make its way through town promoting the program and tossing candy to those watching the parade.  All youth and high school wrestlers who want to hitch a ride on the float are encouraged to meet at the float near the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce and Brooks Excavating around noon on Sunday.  It would be wise to bring a bag of candy to throw out to the kids lining the street.  I prefer Skittles, Airheads and flavored Tootsie Rolls, but just about any candy will do.

Also, open mat nights will be starting soon.  Every Sunday and Wednesday this summer between the hours of 6pm and 7pm, wrestlers will be able to come up to the wrestling room at the high school and hit the mats.  This is a great opportunity to stay in wrestling shape over the summer and will be led by area coaching legend Mike Roddick.

Finally, more videos will be coming to Spartanwrestling.com in the next couple weeks.  If you have any requests for specific videos, please leave them in the comments and I’ll see what I can do to get my hands on them.
