The second round of rankings from Wisconsin Wrestling Online are out and six Spartans find themselves ranked. Of the six ranked Spartans, three are in the top three of their weight class. The high individual rankings combined with Sparta’s team success last year has propelled the Spartans to be ranked 5th overall in Division Two. Ahead of the Spartans are Oconto Falls, Two Rivers, Ellsworth and Luxemburg-Casco.
On the individual side, here is how the Spartans stack up…
- 113 Pounds – Dylan Winchel, 2nd
- 120 Pounds – John Roddick, 3rd
- 132 Pounds – Brock Polhamus, Honorable Mention
- 145 Pounds – Michael Murnane, 8th
- 182 Pounds – Kyle Burkhalter, 3rd
- 195 Pounds – Dan Dawley, 10th
The MVC has 17 ranked wrestlers and Sparta leads all teams with six. Holmen has five followed by Tomah and Aquinas at three and La Crosse Central with one. La Crosse Logan and Onalaska do not have any wrestlers currently appearing in the rankings. On the team side, Holmen comes in ranked 8th in division one Lancaster, who the Spartans hung with despite missing a number of key wrestlers, holds down the top ranking in division three while Weston/Ithaca, a team the Spartans beat at Reedsburg, are ranked 6th in division three. Holmen – Darius Wright is 4th at 132 pounds, Ryan Stalsberg is 6th at 138 pounds, Tyler Westphal is 15th at 170 pounds, Duncan McKinney is 12th at 182 pounds, Hunter Hauser is 4th at 285 pounds
Tomah – Patrick Adler is 2nd at 106 pounds, Jacob Dubord is 10th at 160 pounds, Lucas Stomberg-Wndau is 5th at 220 pounds
Aquinas – Nick Burns is 7th at 113 pounds, Mason Miller is an honorable mention at 126 pounds, Jordan Corcoran is 3rd at 132 pounds
La Crosse Central – Ben Thornton is 1st at 120 pounds
