Sparta now finds itself ranked 7th in division two according to Crossface Magazine. Generally, Crossface’s rankings have been more conservative compared to Wisconsin Wrestling Online. What I mean by that is Sparta is usually ranked lower in Crossface’s rankings than Wisconsin Wrestling Online’s rankings. In the end, that really doesn’t mean anything, but shows that Sparta is starting to turn some heads around the state.
Sparta’s top sectional competition, Lodi, comes in at 4th in the latest rankings. The Spartans have continued to close the gap all year long and should they advance to the team sectionals, they would likely face Lodi in the first dual meet. Team sectionals in divisions two and three are a little different than division one. In division one, the team sectional consists of two teams and one dual meet with the winner advancing to the state team tournament. In divisions two and three, the team sectional combines the winners of four regionals. There are two duals and then the winners face off in a second dual to determine who will go to the state team tournament. The team sectional winner then finds itself in the state semifinals and one dual victory away from a state championship.
Here are the latest rankings from Crossface Magazine for division two…
