Roddick had a breakout freshman campaign at 113 pounds where he set a Spartan freshman record for wins in a season with 40. Roddick and teammate Brock Polhamus became the first Spartan freshman since Josh Isensee in 1995 to qualify for the state individual tournament. During the 2011-12 season, Roddick finished 3rd at sectionals, 1st at Regionals, 5th at the Spartan Invite, 3rd at the Lancaster Invite, 3rd at the Badger State Invite, 5th at the Harrisonville Christmas Tournament and 4-1 at the Reedsburg Duals.
