Eighth grader Hayden Krein traveled to Richmond, Va. this past weekend to compete in the 13th Virginia Challenge National Holiday Duals. The VAC features wrestlers from over 30 states and is considered one of the top age group duals in the country. Krein wrestled 10 times from Friday through Sunday and finished with a record of 7-3. Those seven wins included five pins, one technical fall and a forfeit. In the three matches Krein lost, they were pretty close. He suffered a 5-4 loss to Robbie Patrick of Team Pennsylvania, a 4-2 sudden victory loss to Utah’s Brock Hardy who is considered the top-ranked wrestler at his weight by USA Wrestling and a 6-4 loss to Texas Dynamite’s Braeden Redlin who entered the tournament as one of the top-ranked wrestlers in the country at his weight class. In other words, Krein wrestled some tough competition over the weekend for the Wisconsin All Stars.
