Wisconsin Wrestling Online just came out with their pre-state rankings, which is basically their ranking of the best wrestlers at the state tournament and can be perceived as a predictor of sorts about how each weight class will play out.
Here is how the six were ranked…
- Dylan Winchel – 4th
- John Roddick – 11th
- Brock Polhamus – 11th
- Derek VonRuden – 6th
- Toby Mosley – 4th
- Kyle Burkhalter – 7th
Here is how other MVC wrestlers fared in the rankings…
- Ben Thornton, 1st at 106 in division one
- Kyle McKenzie, 6th at 132 in division one
- Darius Wright, 9th at 120 in division one
- James Bennett, 6th at 126 in division one
- Ryan Stalsberg, 16th at 132 in division one
- Dan Niccum, 12th at 138 in division one
- Hunter Hauser, 13th at 285 in division one
- Patrick Adler, 13th at 106 in division one
- Jacob Dubord, 11th at 152 in division one
- Lucas Stromberg-Windau, 12th at 220 in division one
- Jordan Corcoran, 3rd at 113 in division three
The rankings are meant only as a guide. They’re basically meaningless and are based upon sectional finishes. In the only match between Burkhalter and Lodi’s Jesse Ziegler, Ziegler major decisioned Burkhalter, but because he forfeited his second place match at sectionals, Burkhalter is ranked one spot ahead of Ziegler. The same line plays out at a few other weight classes.
